In an official statement dated October 8, Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah emphasized the significance of preserving free expression and media freedom within the democratic framework.

Prompt action was taken by the Ministry as they alerted the Ghana Police Service upon learning of the unauthorized intrusion by a group of thugs expressing discontent with the program's content.


"The Police arrested 16 individuals on the premises of UTV, and ongoing investigations are underway," the statement informed.



Minister Oppong Nkrumah seized the moment to encourage media entities, particularly show hosts and panelists, to uphold national unity while exercising their fundamental rights.


The assault on UTV drew widespread condemnation from the public, urging a swift response to hold the culprits accountable. To this end, the Ghana Police Service has already apprehended 16 individuals involved in the incident.


The disruption occurred during the live broadcast of the United Showbiz program, causing a disturbance that left viewers surprised and apprehensive.


Following the disruption, the show abruptly went off air, temporarily replaced by commercials. Subsequent online videos shed light on the unsettling events that transpired.

The alleged affiliation of the intruders with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) heightened concerns. 


Their primary demand was an apology from panelist A-Plus, underlined by threatening actions.

In the aftermath of the incident, the show's host, MzGee, extended apologies to the viewers for the disruption.
