Breaking: Afua Asantewaa's Sing-A-Thon Bid Fails! Guinness World Records Drops the Bombshell

Guinness World Records just dropped the news: Afua Asantewaa couldn't snag the crown for the longest singing marathon, despite her epic attempt in December 2023.

In a heartfelt statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), GWR expressed their admiration for Afua's effort and encouraged her to give it another shot. "Her fans have been truly inspired by her journey... Here's to hoping she takes another swing at it!" they cheered.

The statement also mentioned a refund for the fast-track review fee paid by Afua's team. Looks like she won't be out of pocket for that, at least.

Remember when Afua took on the challenge back in December? She aimed to smash the existing record of 105 hours set back in 2012. Talk about aiming high!

Afua went through a grueling five-day singing spree, kicking off at the stroke of midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2023, and wrapping it up at 7:00 am on December 29, 2023. That's some serious dedication!

When she brought her singing marathon to a close on that Friday morning, she had clocked in at five days, six hours, and fifty-five minutes. What a feat!

And her finale? A soul-stirring rendition of Osibisa's ‘Woyaya’, followed by the national anthem in her honor. Goosebumps!

Shortly after her marathon effort, the Ghana Tourism Authority crowned her as a Tourism Ambassador. Talk about recognition!

But the wait for the official word from Guinness World Records had everyone on edge. January 2024 rolled in, and Afua spilled the beans that her team had forked out $750 for a speedy review.

However, despite coughing up the cash for priority treatment, the results were still held up. Rumors started swirling that maybe she didn't quite make the cut.

Meanwhile, GWR revealed in their statement that they were already knee-deep in Afua's review when she requested the fast lane. "The process was already in motion before her team hit us up for a rush job, so we gave her back the dough earlier this month," they clarified.
