John Dramani Mahama, President-Elect of Ghana and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has taken a decisive step in his fight against corruption by forming a five-member preparatory team. This initiative is aimed at addressing corruption and recovering misappropriated state properties as part of his broader governance agenda.

The taskforce, chaired by North Tongu MP Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is designed to identify and gather evidence on suspected cases of corruption. The team includes highly experienced professionals with expertise in auditing, law enforcement, legal practice, and investigative journalism. Its members are:
- Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairman
- Mr. Daniel Domelevo – Former Auditor-General
- COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye – Retired Police Commissioner
- Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private Legal Practitioner
- Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative Journalist
This anti-corruption initiative, branded as Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), reinforces Mahama’s longstanding commitment to improving transparency, holding public officials accountable, and safeguarding public resources from abuse.
Fighting Corruption: A Central Policy Agenda
In a press statement issued by the Transition Team, it was revealed that the anti-corruption taskforce will receive and compile information from the public and other sources regarding suspected acts of corruption. The team will lay the groundwork for recovering state resources that have been misappropriated.
Mahama has repeatedly emphasized the importance of strengthening institutions to curb corruption. His administration’s renewed focus on accountability aligns with his campaign pledge to prioritize good governance, enhance transparency, and rebuild public trust in government institutions.
Hitting the Ground Running
Speaking on behalf of the Transition Team, spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu reiterated Mahama’s resolve to take bold steps against corruption. “The President-Elect is committed to tackling corruption head-on,” he stated, adding that this initiative is a signal of the administration’s readiness to deliver on campaign promises immediately after assuming office.
Mahama’s commitment to anti-corruption efforts has been a cornerstone of his 2024 campaign, and the formation of this team demonstrates his determination to deliver results. By assembling a team of seasoned professionals, Mahama aims to foster accountability and recover state resources, setting a precedent for transparency and good governance in Ghana.
