CastinoStudiosgh: Gov’t to convert tollbooths into washroom facilities- Amoako Attah reveals (video)

The Minister of Roads and Highway, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah has revealed that plans are far advanced to convert the various abandoned tollbooths across the country into washroom facilities to cease the defecation of drivers and passengers on our roads.

The Minister made this revelation after the National Roads Safety Authority appealed to the Ministry to remove the various tollbooths if the government has no alternative use for them to reduce road accidents.

Speaking with the press covered by the Joy News, after a meeting with road engineers, the roads minister stated that the move is to address the washrooms deficit on our various highways.

“The government will refurbish all those tollbooths structures to provide proper and decent washrooms. For instance, the use by motorist so that we advise them to desist from the practice that you see that at times cars stopping indiscriminately on the highway and people getting out… you know, to wee-wee as we usually say it.

You see men on the left and women on the right (urinating) or at times you see a man and a woman, look, it’s all indecent, it’s not a good practice,” he added.

However, the Head of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) Compliance Unit, Lawyer Kwame Koduah Atuahene has argued that the tollbooths have become obstructions to motorists and could pose dangers to them, therefore must be removed before they cause chaos.

“We have spoken to the Ghana High Way Authority to do whatever it has to remove the tollbooths so that they do not cause any harm before we do something about it.

Either you take them off or give sufficient warning of about 500 meters ahead or 1kilometer ahead to notify drivers that there are approaching an unused tollbooth so they should slow down. Ultimately, we want motorists to be safe,” he noted in a media interview.
