President Akufo-Addo has today, Friday 6 January 2023 approved the resignation letter of the trade minister Alan Kyerematen presented to him.

The President then instructed finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta to act as a caretaker minister until a substantive appointment is made.
Alan Kyerematen submitted his letter of resignation to the President on January 5, 2023.
The man, popularly known as "Alan Cash," has long been rumored to have ambitions to challenge the position of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flag-bearers in the 2024 general election.
It is believed that his resignation gives him time to pursue further presidential ambitions.
The president in a letter replied to the minister accepting his request.
