Election 2024: Naana Opoku-Agyemang Chosen Again as John Mahama's Running Mate

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially declared Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate for John Mahama in the forthcoming 2024 general elections.

In a press release dated Thursday, March 7, and endorsed by the General Secretary, Fifi Kwettey, the party spotlighted Prof. Opoku-Agyemang's illustrious career as an academic and leader, highlighting her unwavering commitment to education and public service.

The nomination of Prof. Opoku-Agyeman underscores the NDC's firm dedication to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and the empowerment of women in key leadership roles.

The statement further accentuated that Prof. Opoku-Agyeman brings a plethora of knowledge and expertise to the NDC's presidential ticket.

"The National Democratic Congress (NDC) proudly proclaims the appointment of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the Running Mate to the party's flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, for the 2024 presidential elections."

However, the Former Minister of Education, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has affirmed her readiness and dedication to collaborate with the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Party (NDC), John Mahama, in the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang conveyed her deep appreciation for the trust vested in her, stating her commitment to serving the people of Ghana with integrity, dignity, truthfulness, hard work, and patriotism.

Her statement comes in the wake of her nomination and introduction as the running mate to the former President by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Council of Elders of the NDC during a meeting held on Thursday, March 7.

In her response to the nomination, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed deep gratitude to the NDC Council of Elders and the NEC for their overwhelming support and endorsement.

She remarked, "Today, I received the news of my confirmed selection as the Running Mate to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, Flagbearer and Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NOC), and incoming President of the Republic of Ghana with profound humility and great honor."
