Speaking on Gifty Anti’s TSP show, Rev. Charlotte Oduro candidly expressed the challenges she faced as a woman navigating a difficult marriage. She admitted that for a long time, she had lost herself but didn’t know how to reclaim her identity.
"I was afraid I would be judged, that someone would pull out their phones and record me while I shared the painful side of my life," she said, revealing the fear that kept her silent for years.
Rev. Oduro shared that being a pastor’s wife confined her to a particular way of life, limiting her self-expression.
"I've realized serving God is not as rigid as they have made it seem. They put me in a corner, and ah! I’ve always tied the scarf, but that’s over now," she declared.
She emphasized that her newfound freedom allows her to serve God in a way that feels authentic.
"It's an open world for me now. Serving God is beautiful. Let’s not make it seem as though we have to look like village people before people believe we are holy. I’m a free bird now; I want to fly, I want to enjoy the cold, I want to enjoy the heat," she said with enthusiasm.

The counselor also opened up about the emotional toll her marriage struggles had on her mental health. At one point, she fell into depression, but her children played a crucial role in uplifting her spirits.
"I pray that God gives everyone children like mine. They have been a great source of encouragement. There was a time I felt lost, and my daughter asked me, ‘Mummy, don’t you want to enjoy life?’ My son reminds me every day how beautiful I am," she shared.
She also recounted a touching moment when she considered deferring her degree in Public Relations at Wiscon University to care for her sick daughter. However, her daughter urged her never to give up on life, even if she was no longer around.
Reflecting on the state of marriage in today’s world, Rev. Oduro called for a renewed understanding of the institution.
"There is a need to rise to the occasion. The sacred institution of marriage is under attack. Only those who proclaim God’s wisdom on marriage can salvage the situation. We need teachers who are after God's own heart," she stated.
She made it clear that moving forward, her focus is on herself and her spiritual journey with God.
"Nobody can stop me; I am the only person who can stop myself. If someone breaks my heart, I will still love again because I choose to live for today, not worry about what happens tomorrow," she confidently declared.
